About Me

I create content to solve problems.

Zackery Ellis

Effective communication is the cornerstone of any relationship. I strive to craft content strategies that build mutually beneficial connections between organizations and their audiences.

With 6 million touchpoints and counting, I am one of Boise State’s most prolific proponents of the Blue Turf Thinking mindset. This mindset embraces breaking norms, blazing new trails, and imagining the possibilities of what could be. I have pushed to remove barriers for prospective students by ensuring undergraduate Admissions processes are WCAG AA compliant, creating lead-gen tools that provide customized information for students, building email automations to remind them of deadlines and support services, and developing intuitive pathways to online information.

As the Digital Media Specialist for a municipal government, I had a vision for increasing transparency and effectively engaging with citizens. User analytics helped me develop video, web, and multimedia content that inspired community dialogue about municipal services. This helped the social media team double our followers during my tenure. I improved access to information by directing over 400 live TV and web broadcasts and by helping transition an aging website to a collaboration-based CMS. In 2018, the city awarded me for my “exceptional internal customer service.”

Outside of these positions, I have made commercials for small businesses and filmed a variety of live events, ranging from nationally televised football games to legal depositions. I also help organizations bridge the gap between marketing and public relations. My work has taken me to seven countries, dozens of states, and countless unique communities filled with inspirational people.

I hold a Bachelor’s in Radio/TV/Film from Northwestern University and a Master’s in Strategic Communication from Washington State University.
